A RESOLUTION COMMENDING GUY DALE SHAW UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS THE YALOBUSHA COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR.

WHEREAS, Guy Dale Shaw has held the Office of Yalobusha County Tax Assessor-Collector since January 1, 1964, and will be retiring after 35 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Shaw serves as President of the Mississippi Assessors Association and has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Mississippi Assessors and Collectors Association for 31 years; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Mr. Shaw has received several awards from the International Association of Assessing Officers, including Representative of the Year for five consecutive years, the Membership Award for three years and in 1991, the Certificate Recognition for recruiting new members; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Shaw has also received the Distinguished Service Award in 1989 from the Mississippi Assessors-Collectors Association, Distinguished Service Award from the Lions Club International and the Outstanding Young Man of the Year by the Water Valley Junior Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Shaw has been involved in a number of activities, including membership in the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce; a Little League coach for eight years; former President of the Coffeeville PTA; founder of the Mississippi Youth Championship Horse Show; President of the Mississippi Horse Council; and President of the Coffeeville Saddle Club; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Shaw, a member of the Executive Committee of the Yalobusha Baptist Association, is also a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1964 and where he has served as chairman since 1988; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Shaw, whose long and distinguished career has well served the people of Yalobusha County:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Guy Dale Shaw upon his retirement as the Yalobusha County Tax Assessor-Collector and extend to him our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Guy Dale Shaw and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
